History of the Association
The Terenure Residents' Association was founded in 1986 for the purpose of representing the interests of residents of the Terenure area of Dublin (see map), and has operated continuously since then. The primary reason for setting up the Association at the time was in response to a number of incidents and problems arising from the operation of a nightclub in Terenure Village. Since then the association has been active in the areas of planning, environmental and public amenity matters, roads and traffic issues, and as a focus for local issues generally. It has regular contact with public representatives and local officials and makes representations as required.
The Association is run by a committee which meets monthly. There is an annual general meeting open to all residents at which the officers of the committee are elected. The Association also maintains contact with other residents' associations in the Terenure area, and works closely with I Love Terenure 2030.
Membership
There are approximately 800 households making up the membership of the Association. The voluntary membership fee is €5 per household per annum. Anyone wishing to join the Association's committee should contact the secretary or any current committee member.
